![]() I was able to figure out how to swap one or two pins and get things going. I found that this kit wasn't always compatible with a certain furnaces, even with a conversion plug supplied in the kit. This is the kit with all the Molex plug fittings. But also used it mostly when I was using the Honeywell Universal Hot Surface Control Board kit. Used them for the HSI stuff you all are talking about. I used extractors alot when I was in the residential arena. The male pin is usually pretty common with most extractors, but it is the female pin that for some reason can very oh so slightly, thus the need for multiple size extractors. I mostly find that the common size used in our industry may require two different extractors. I agree with JayMan, there are a so many differences with these pins. Was the depinning and soldering hassle worth it? No it was not…all it was for is satisfying my OCD! Which isn’t a bad thing I guess! Plus I suppose I also get that fuzzy feeling of a job well done I used to depin the OEM and solder those molex connectors on the wires of the generic replacement (in commercial I rarely have a need for that so don’t mess with it much anymore). Again I cannot stress enough how much variation there is in “molex”. You will also find that fairly often the molex metal connectors on your generic igniter plug will not fit properly in the OEM plastic plug you want to use. Unfortunately manufacturers use a lot of “molex” but there’s not an exact standard so “molex” varies quite a bit. I’ve found that having more than one style is helpful. And keep connections as far back as possible so wire isn’t transferring heat to connections. I agree…ceramic is totally unnecessary! Just make connections where there isn’t much heat.
